Orchestra

Students interested in joining the Strings Program can begin their training as early as K5 and continue through high school. Instruction is available for violin, viola, and beginner-level cello. Bass instruction begins in upper elementary.

  • Small group instruction offered for K5 and 1st grade beginners

• Viola

  • Private instruction begins in 3rd grade

• Cello

  • Beginner-level private instruction available starting in 3rd grade

• Bass

  • Private instruction begins in 5th grade

Ensemble Opportunities

Beginning in 2nd grade, students may join one of several ensembles that build musical technique and ensemble experience:

• Beginner Orchestra
  For students in Suzuki Book 1 who are learning basic rhythms, notes, and finger patterns.

• Elementary Orchestra
  For students who have mastered the basics and are ready to develop musical independence.

Middle & High School Ensembles (Grades 6–12)

At the middle and high school level, students participate in:

• Combined String Ensemble
  A large ensemble including all 6th–12th grade string students, focusing on orchestral repertoire and ensemble performance.

• Chamber Ensembles
  Students are also placed in a smaller chamber group based on experience and skill level:

  • Allegro String Ensemble – introductory chamber experience

  • Presto String Ensemble – advanced chamber ensemble

These ensembles help students develop both orchestral and chamber music skills as they progress..
