Orchestra

Students interested in joining the strings program can begin their training as early as K5 and can continue through the high school level. Lessons are available for violin, viola, cello and bass.

Private Violin instruction is available for K5 and up, and small group instruction is available for K5 and 1st grade beginners. Private viola and cello lessons are available starting at 3rd grade and private bass lessons are available starting at 5th grade.

Beginning in 2nd grade, students have the opportunity to play in one of three ensembles which focus on advancing musicianship, technique, and repertoire.  Students in book 1 start with Beginner Orchestra. Once students know the basic rhythms, notes and finger patterns, they continue on to Elementary Orchestra.  At the junior & senior high levels, students participate in both a large ensemble (Combined JH & HS String Ensemble) and a chamber group (JH/HS String Ensemble), developing both chamber and orchestral skills.
