Lempa Signs w/ University
Jordan Lempa, a senior at Schaumburg Christian School, celebrated a very large achievement as she signed her national letter of intent to play volleyball next year for the Grace University Royals in Omaha, Nebraska. Jordan, who attended Schaumburg Christian since preschool and has progressed through the SCS volleyball program since junior high, has developed into a collegiate level athlete. Kyle McVey, the athletic director at Schaumburg Christian said, “It is so exciting to watch Jordan have the opportunity to grow up at SCS and develop her volleyball skills in our program! It’s a great testament to the amazing coaches we have as well as the high level of our athletic program.” The Conqueror athletic program is in its second year as a full member of the IHSA and has already seen success due largely to Jordan and her fellow seniors, Bailey Cummings and Courtney Benson. Being in the IHSA gives our students the opportunity to play at a high level of competition and allows college coaches to see the talent level of our players.
Jordan was the starting setter for the varsity girls' team this year as they had the best season in school history, winning their second IHSA Regional Championship and going on to win an IHSA Sectional Championship before finally losing in the Super Sectionals to the former state champion. “Jordan was always there for me and always encouraged me and challenged me to get better,” said senior, Courtney Benson.
January 27th was an opportunity for Jordan to celebrate her accomplishments at SCS as well as look forward to her future volleyball career at Grace University. Family, friends, and many of Jordan’s classmates came out to support her at the signing, and Bailey, Courtney, and Coach Cummings each gave testimony to what makes Jordan such a special friend, teammate, and person. Jordan was very excited to hear that her college coach had just planned a trip for next season to the Chicagoland area. Jordan stated, “I am so excited to have the opportunity to play back in the Chicago area, and it will be a fun experience to play in front of my family and friends."
The Conqueror Nation community is very excited for Jordan’s opportunity to continue her education by earning a degree in nursing while furthering her volleyball career. Jordan worked hard at SCS and through playing club volleyball, and we look forward to her continued success at Grace University!
