What You Need to Know About the
"Invest in Kids" Scholarship Program

Through the newly introduced “Invest in Kids Act,” Illinois children enrolling in private schools in K-12 will have access
to privately funded scholarships. The scholarships offered through this program could cover
50 to 100 percent of tuition and eligible charges for next school year

How to qualify: Eligibility to receive a scholarship is based on your family’s federal adjusted gross income for 2016 or 2017. For example, you could receive a 50% scholarship if you made less than $73,800 a year as a family of four (ie. two parents and two children or one parent and three children).

Application Process and Deadline: The new application will be available through the Empower Illinois website. It will be a two-step process.

  1. Reserve: On Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. families will complete a brief online form containing name and contact information, child name and preferred school. This will time stamp your application for the first-come, first-served scholarships.
  2. Apply: After reserving your place in line, families will be emailed a unique link and use their reservation code to complete the application. Applications will be sent on a rolling basis, over the course of a few weeks. After receiving the application email, families will have 3 days to complete the application and submit all required documents.

Did you know you can apply 75% of the amount of your authorized contribution as a credit against your 2018 individual tax liability?
