Bailey signs w/ Cornerstone

April 26th was a time of celebration for Schaumburg Christian senior Bailey Cummings as she had the opportunity to celebrate signing her letter of intent to play college volleyball at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids Michigan. The signing was packed with family, friends, classmates, teammates, teachers, and pastors all showing their support for Bailey. Several teammates had the opportunity to share how Bailey impacted and encouraged them during the season and school year. Coach Alice Cummings, Bailey’s mom, finished off the ceremony encouraging Bailey that she has proven she has the ability to succeed at the next level because of all the hard work and dedication she has put into her game and into the SCS program over her high school career. Coach Cummings ended with the team verse from this year from Mark 12:30, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Bailey ends her career as one of the winningest athletes in Conqueror history averaging 18 wins per season and winning two state championships in the Illinois Association of Christian Schools and then leading the program into the Illinois High School Association by winning regionals her junior year and then winning both regionals and sectionals her senior year. Bailey has been a great leader at SCS and has taken the volleyball program to a higher level. She will be joining her older sister Paetyn at Cornerstone next year. Paetyn is a 2014 SCS graduate and played her first two years at Colorado Christian University before transferring closer to home. Bailey is excited for the opportunity to again play with her sister and is ready to join a winning program at Cornerstone. Cornerstone is an NAIA Division I school for volleyball, and the program has found success under the leadership of head coach Ryan Campbell. The golden eagles volleyball was ranked in the top 20 in the country this past year winning over 30 games and making it to the NAIA National Tournament. The volleyball teams looks to be in great shape with returning players and additions like Bailey to the program. Bailey will be studying exercise science at Cornerstone along with her sister Paetyn. The team is scheduled to come to Chicago during the season and we will make sure to promote those games on conqueror nation!

Congratulations Bailey and the Cummings family! Conqueror Nation is proud of you and will continue to cheer you on as you head to the next level!
